In 1979 EVERYBODY had a Walkman. The Walkman was the first major produced portable music player in the U.S. The Walkman was first produced in 1979 and Sony is still making newer versions of the Walkman. The first Walkman played the music from a tape you put in it. The current Walkman is more like an Ipod by holding music on a memory stick and can hold a lot more songs.
The Walkman had a huge impact on society. If you could afford a Walkman you would buy a Walkman.
