Ipod: 2001-Present
The Ipod was invented by Steve Jobs and was first produced in October of 2001.
The first Ipod that was produced was the first generation of the Ipod classic. The first generation Ipod classic came out in 2001 had a capacity of 5-10 Gb and a 10 hour battery life. The 6.5 generation Ipod classic (the last one Ipod classic) came out in 2008 and had a capacity of 160 Gb and a 36 hour battery on audio and a 6 hour battery on video. The Ipod classic has clearly advanced alot from 2001.
The Ipod mini was the second type of Ipod produced. The first Ipod mini came out in 2004 and had a capacity of 4 Gb and a battery life of 8 hours. The second Ipod mini (the last ipod mini) came out in 2005 and a capacity of 4-6 Gb and a battery life of 18 hours. The Ipod mini didn't advance as much as the Ipod classic but it still advanced.
The Ipod photo was the third type of Ipod to be produced and was almost like the middle child of the Ipods. The first Ipod photo came out in 2004 and had a capacity of 30-60 Gb and 15 hour battery. The second Ipod photo (the last Ipod photo) came out in 2005 and had a capacity of 20-60 Gb and, also, a 15 hour battery. The Ipod photo didn't advance at all but you could say it got worse.
The Ipod shuffle was the fourth type of Ipod produced. The first Ipod shuffle came out in 2005 and had a capacity of 0.5-1 Gb and a 12 hour battery. The fourth Ipod shuffle (the last one so far) came out in 2010 and had a capacity of 2 or 4 Gb and a 10 hour battery. You could say the Ipod shuffle advanced some but got worse some but that choice is up to you, hopefully.
The Ipod nano was the fifth Ipod to be produced. The first Ipod nano came out in 2005 and had a capacity of 1-4 Gb and a 14 hour battery. The 6th Ipod nano (the last one so far) came out in 2010 and had a capacity of 8-16 Gb and a 24 hour battery on audio and a 4 hour battery on video. The Ipod nano advanced more than some but less than a lot.
The Ipod touch was the last ipod,so far, to be produced. The first Ipod touch came in 2007 and a capacity of 8-32 Gb and a 22 hour battery. The 4th Ipod touch (the last one so far) came out in 2010 and had a capacity of 32 or 64 Gb and a 36 hour battery on audio and a 4 hour battery on video, it also has a camera. The Ipod touch might of had the biggest change of all because it changed with a camera.
The Ipod had a big impact on society because the newer Ipod touch can now use video chat which was unheard of 10 years ago.
